India is a vast and diverse country in South Asia, known for its rich cultural heritage, varied landscapes, and vibrant traditions. From the snow-covered Himalayan mountains in the north to the tropical forests and long coastlines in the south, India’s geography supports an incredible range of life. This diversity extends to its wildlife, which includes iconic species such as the Bengal tiger, Asiatic lion, Indian elephant, one-horned rhinoceros, and countless birds, reptiles, and plants. India’s forests, grasslands, mangroves, and mountains form some of the world’s most significant ecosystems, protected through numerous national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. vaccinations and Health Information for India
Travelers arriving in India from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Some visitors may also need to provide proof of polio vaccination. It’s important to check all vaccination requirements and recommendations with your doctor or travel clinic.
In addition to the mandatory vaccinations, you may want to consider getting vaccinated for the following diseases: tetanus, hepatitis A, typhoid, cholera, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, and tuberculosis. While the risk of malaria is low, consulting your doctor or travel clinic for personalized advice is recommended.
Be aware that dengue fever and chikungunya are known risks in India. Both are tropical viral diseases transmitted by mosquitoes that bite during the day. As there are currently no vaccines or preventive medications available for these diseases, the best way to avoid them is to take precautions against mosquito bites.
Some travel itineraries in India may involve high altitudes. In regions above approximately 6,560 feet (2,000 meters), the risk of mosquito-borne diseases is minimal. However, at elevations exceeding 9,840 feet (3,000 meters), there is a risk of acute mountain sickness. Our itineraries are designed to help everyone acclimatize to these altitudes, but it’s important to be mindful of the possibility of altitude-related issues. New Digital Arrival Card
Travellers from the UK, US, EU and Canada must also complete a Digital Arrival Card. This can be filled online up to 72 hours before arrival via the official Indian visa website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival/. This is separate from the Indian e-visa process and this remains the same. Physical cards will remain at the arrival airport until 1 April 2026, at which point the Digital Arrival Card will be made mandatory.
